Paul's letter to the Philippian church is something of a missionary thank you letter, but it is so much more than that. It is the sharing of Paul's secret life of Christian joy! 19 times in these 4 chapters, Paul mentions joy, rejoicing or gladness and we can't forget he was writing this from a Roman prison! We ask ourselves, how could he continue to have a joy that overflowed? As we study this amazing book, we will discover the secret is found in another word often repeated in Philippians and that is the word “mind”. The secret of Christian joy is found in the way the believer thinks. Philippians can be viewed as a Christian psychology book based solidly on biblical principles. It is a book that explains the mind the believer must have if she is going to experience Christian joy in a world filled with trouble.
During our time together we will explore the four chapters of Philippians where Paul describes four attitudes of the mind that will produce joy in spite of circumstances, people, and things and that we need not worry when times get tough.
