CrossRidge Church is launching a brand new ministry on November 3rd. It is a ministry to help love, support, and CARE for vulnerable or orphaned children and giving them the families that they deserve. In the Metroplex, there is a growing need to care for the orphaned and vulnerable children. Last year in Denton County alone there were 271 children that were rescued and placed in Foster care. Of those children, 19 were from the 75068 zip code. 75% of those children who were rescued had to be placed out of Denton County in large part due to the fact that there was not enough families ready to take them in. As of June 2013, 99 children were waiting to be adopted, 6 of those are from the 75068 zip code.
With approximately 890 churches in Denton County alone, why can’t these kids find a home? CrossRidge Care Ministry seeks to fulfill James 1:27, which commissions the Church to take care of the fatherless. Foster care or adoption is not about increasing the size of a family or doing a good deed. It’s about helping a child desperately needing love and direction.“Your family may not need another child, but there’s a hurting child that needs your family.”
So as a church, we want to do our part to CARE for these children and to give them the hope that Jesus holds out for them.
It is a ministry that everyone in our church can be a part of. You may not be able to take a child into your home, but you may be able to support those who do. From providing meals, donating clothes or needed items to being a qualified babysitter or respite provider. Everyone has a place. If you have been praying about the possibility of becoming a Foster Family or going through the process of adoption, we want to help you and walk along side of you and connect you to the people that will help you to CARE for these children. These children need to know the love and CARE that only Jesus can provide and we want to give it to them. So we are having an informational meeting on Sunday, November 3rd, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at CrossRidge Church. At this meeting we will give you all of the information you need to know about how you can be involved in this ministry.
If you are interested in attending this meeting and will need childcare you must register online and let us know how many children you have that will need childcare and their ages. Childcare will only be for those who register before October 30.Register Today

This Sunday, at CrossRidge Church, between 5pm and 7pm will be hosting our annual Chili Cook Off. If you think you have what it takes to win, then be sure to bring a pot of your best chili. Even if you don't have a pot to enter we still want you to come. It's going to be a great time of hanging out and smack talking or like some say, "snack" talkin'.
Last year's winner was John Wolfe. He's been preparing for a while now and says the title will be his again. Join us Sunday to find out who will take home the title this year.

Dr. Johnny Derouen is a bayou boy from Lake Charles, LA who can make a mean bowl of Gumbo. He became a Christian at the age of 16. His favorite verse is Psalms 37:4. He has been married to his wife, Ivette, 35 years. They have two sons, Josh, 31, and Ty, 17. In his spare time, he likes to workout, read, and watch movies. (He is a huge John Wayne fan.)
Johnny has received his PhD in Student Ministry at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Student Ministries at SWBTS. He received his M.A. in religious education at SWBTS and has a B.S. in microbiology. In the past, Johnny has served as the minister of youth at Meadowbrook Baptist of Fort Worth, TX; First Baptist Churches of Muskogee, OK (4 years) and Houston, TX (11 years). His last position as youth minister was at Travis Ave Baptist in Fort Worth, where he served 10 years. Johnny has more than 39 years of youth ministry experience.

He developed the “Leading Edge” video series for youth workers, has written articles for a number of youth ministry publications, written a chapter on teaching youth in the textbook The Teaching Ministry of the Church (editor – Rick Yount, 2008), and authored the book Christ, the Basis of Faith (2006) for students to develop a passion for Jesus Christ and Accelerate, Parenting Teens to Adulthood, How not to have your 25 yr old still living in your basement (with 4 other authors) (2013).
I was born to a mother, Bonnie Belle, who was the daughter of a Baptist preacher, and a father, Alan Dale, who was the son of a deacon. Needless to say, I was prayed for before I was born. My testimony is directly related to the love that God showed me through my family. My salvation is just like everyone else's, I was dead and God breathed life. At the age of six in DeLeon, Texas, I kneeled in the front yard with my dad, and I accepted Christ as Savior. We lived many places while growing up but eventually ended up in the north Dallas area. This is where I began leading worship for youth groups and retreats in the area. After chasing fame, fortune, and other things that fade for a few years in my early 20's, the Lord, by His grace, revealed to me that He was better. During this period of my life I began attending the Village Church. I began leading worship for our nextgen ministries and was brought on staff in 2008 as the NextGen Worship Pastor. In 2009 the Lord called me to the Dallas Northway campus as the Worship Pastor. I met my wife Dru Nicole in Denton, Texas where she was born and raised. We have been married for 2 years and we have a daughter named Layla Blair.
